Guards
See page 71 for detailed information on track
guiding guards and track roller guards.
Sprocket Guards — Sprocket guards
shield undercarriage components and
reduce the area between the sprocket and
roller frame where underfoot material can
enter and/or build up. The reduction of
material entering the undercarriage system
decreases sprocket, bushing, link and track
roller wear. Sprocket guards are now
standard on new machines and can be
retrofitted to earlier hydrostatic loaders.
Sprocket guards are most effective in
abrasive and high packing conditions.
Idler Guards — Idler Guards enclose the
open area behind the idler protecting the
idler, recoil rod and link assembly from
increased wear caused by entrapped under-
foot material.
Idler guards are an attachment on new
machines and can be retrofitted to earlier
hydrostatic loaders. These guards are most
effective in demolition debris, rock condi-
tions and sanitary landfill (all with 1" to 4"
size material).
