F. Measure the voltage between terminal 1 and
terminal 2 at th
e solenoid connector.
Expected Result:
The voltage is approximately 24 VDC.
Results:
•
OK – The voltage is approximately 24 VDC.
Voltage is pre
sent at the connector.
Repair: The voltage is reaching the solenoid.
Check the mech
anical operation o f the solenoid.
STOP.
•
Not OK – The voltage is not 24 VDC. The voltage
is not present at the connector. Proceed to Test
Step 4.
Test Step 4. Check the Voltage at the ECM
A. Turn the keyswitch to the OFF position.
B. Remove wire F
708-YL from terminal P2-11 at
ECM connector J2/P2. Install a wire jumper into
the socket for P2-11.
C. Turn the k eyswitch to the ON position.
D. Select the ov
erride for the engine oil renewal
solenoid on Cat ET.
E. Set the overr
ide for the engine oil renewal solenoid
to 100 percent.
F. Measure the
voltage between the wire jumper in
P2-11 and engine ground.
G. Remove the j
umper wires and reconnect all wires.
Expected Result:
The voltage is approximately 24 VDC.
Results:
•
OK – The voltage is approximately 24 VDC. The
voltage is c
orrect.Thereisanopencircuitor
excessive resistance in the harness between the
ECM and the solenoid.
Repair: Repair the connectors or wiring and/or
replace the connectors or wiring.
STOP.
•
Not OK – The
voltage is not 24 VDC. The voltage
is not present at the connector.
Repair: Replace the ECM. Refer to
Troubleshooti
ng, “Replacing the ECM”.
STOP.
