Use the following procedure in order to connect Cat
ET and the Communication Adapter II.
1. Remove the electrical power to the ECM.
2. Connect cable (2) between the “COMPUTER”
end of communication adapter (3) and the RS232
serial port of PC (1).
Note: The 237-7547 Adapter Cable As is required
to connect to the USB port on computers that are not
equipped with a RS232 serial port.
3. Connect cable (4) between the “DATA LINK” end
of communication adapter (3) and the service tool
connector.
4. Restore electrical power t o the ECM. If Cat ET and
the communicat
ion adapter do not communicate
with the Electronic Control Module (ECM), refer
to troubleshooting without a diagnostic code
