Measurement — Measure the track link
over the centerline of the pin and bushing
bores. See page 28 for details.

Bushing — Sealed Track — External
Hydraulic excavators use Sealed Track. See
pages 44 through 50 for details.
Measurement — To measure external
wear use the caliper or the Ultrasonic Wear
Indicator. Measure the minimum dimen-
sion regardless of the position (vertical,
forward, reverse). This is because the
Sealed Track bushing must have sufficient
strength to resist cracking after the turn.
The remaining strength is largely affected
by wear before the turn. See details on
measurement procedures, page 44.
Bushing External Allowable Wear —
Wear limits for Sealed Track bushings are
determined by remaining strength before
and after the turn as well as external wear.
For high impact conditions use lesser allow-
able wear to service point. For low impact
conditions use greater allowable wear to
service point. Destruction is expected to
occur within 20 percent of any additional
hours if the same conditions exist.
Pin and Bushing —
Sealed Track — Internal
Measurement — Sealed track internal
wear is measured by determining the
pitch extended length over four adjacent
sections with a tape measure calibrated in
0.02" (0.5 mm) increments. The track
